If you would like to make a contribution please select one of the three charities below and follow the link. And also please notify Alan at cyberpunk@mac.com with your contribution amount. You may remain anonymous if you'd like. We want to track the donation efforts by everyone so we can keep a running tally, and I have a corporate sponsor that is interested in matching whatever we raise.

The Plunge
What: Polar Plunge for South Asia Tsunami Relief
Where: Check with your local organizer. The Connecticut Plunge will be held
at Compo Beach in Westport.
When: Saturday, January 15th
Time: Be there by 11:30 am Eastern Time. We will all take the plunge at 12
pm sharp, eastern time.
Donations: Each participant should aim to collect a minimum of $100 from sponsors supporting their plunging effort. Donations can be made directly through links set up on the home page of my web site, www.Hodska.com. I set a goal of $100 for each plunger to raise, however, any donation to these charities is fine.
Additional Notes: Please bring plenty of warm clothes and blankets. I'm trying to keep this low key, so I did not organize hot coffee, cocoa, or tea. Consider bringing this. If anyone wants to sponsor the event and bring large quantities of these beverages, please contact myself, or the organizer from your area.
Someone e-mailed me wanting to know if you had to be an athlete to participate. Certainly not, the more the merrier. Just make sure you are healthy enough to withstand the ice cold water. If you are concerned, I recommend consulting your doctor. I am not responsible if
someone suffers any type of trauma due to taking the plunge. All plungers will plunge at their own risk.
Please contact me if you have any other questions or concerns. Whether you
are plunging or not, please come out to the event and support this extremely
worthwhile cause.
Eric's Letter- 12/28/04
I sit here absolutely devastated, watching the current events from South Asia on television, as I write this. I have an empty pit in my stomach, as they tally more and more deaths. The reporter begins to discuss how families were pulled apart by the tsunami and I have to turn the channel. The past few days, I can't stop thinking about this catastrophe and I wonder how we fortunate ones here can do a part to contribute in some small way. They have already set up a few charities to raise funds for the relief effort.
Why don't we do this: I know about a group that does a plunge in the sound in January to raise money for cancer. Why don't we do our own plunge? We can set a date. Those in Connecticut will meet at compo beach in Westport to take the dip. Those down in Washington DC (I have a few athletes there) can meet at a neutral location and take a dunk. The Ohio crew can do Lake Erie. Those in California luck out with the water temperature, but can take
plunge on the same day as all of us anyway. Wherever you may be located, organize a meeting place for your splash and I'll set up a date and time. We then can solicit donations from sponsors for this Winter Plunge. I'm not much at soliciting - in fact, raising funds for cancer in Rick Moisan's honor was my first effort. But we can't just sit here and watch this horror on the news without doing some small effort to contribute. January 15th at high noon. I'll contact the Red Cross to set up a link from my web site to make donations. Who's in?
