October 2007 Athlete Profile- Matt Weiss |
Athlete Of The Month Profile
- Name Matt Weiss
- How long have you been training for and racing in swimming? I started racing and training in the Summer of ’06.
- What is your favorite aspect of the sport? I love the camaraderie of training. But I live for the competition. I love to race. I love to push myself to the edge.
- What do you consider your biggest athletic achievement? Getting up every morning and completing the work-outs I get from my masochistic coach. And completing Eagleman and Timberman were a close second.
- What are your big goals? LP BABY IN ‘07
- What’s your favorite meal? Wings, Cheese Doodles & Pizza
- What’s your favorite movie? A River Runs Through It, Goodfella’s,
- Any other hobbies? Wine, Mt. Biking, Skiing, Snowboarding, Fishing, my kids
- Where is the best place you have visited? Living in Aspen, Co in ‘87 & ’88, India, Chamonix or anyplace in France
- If you could visit one place this year, where would it be? Thailand
- What’s your favorite workout? These days it would be the long rides 3+ hours followed by a 30 run. But anything on the bike rocks. Of course it’s always fun to do multiple 100’s in the pool.
- Who’s your inspiration? My Dad. He taught me every lifestyle sport I know. He’s 73 and fully active. And my Grandfather – he fished with us until he was 92. And smart as they came.
- If you could train with one person for a day, who would it be? Hodska. Or Desiree Flicker. Hmmmmm. Sorry, you lose Eric.
- What three things would you bring with you if you were to be dropped on a deserted Island (not counting family)? Survivorman would suggest goggles, water and clothing. I’d rather have my Ipod, my pillow and ice cubes
- Any other words of wisdom? Don’t sweat the small stuff. Live everyday hard.
