June 2007 Athlete Profile- Pam Morrow |
Athlete Of The Month Profile
- Name Pam Morrow
- How long have you been training for and racing in endurance sports? I did my first marathon in 1998. Before that, I did NOTHING athletic.
- What is your favorite aspect of the sport? I have met really great people who have become good friends. I love the feeling of being done with a long workout and that feeling of being relaxed.
- What do you consider your biggest athletic achievement? Winning the Flying Pigs Marathon (thanks Mark Misencik for spreading that rumor). I did Florida IM in 2003 and besides a flat, everything else just clicked.
- What are your big goals? I am going to do a 50-mile trail run in September. I would like to learn how to feel confident when racing and be able to give it my all.
- What’s your favorite meal? Sushi, and a lot of it.
- What’s your favorite movie? I don’t know if I have a favorite. I like very heavy, dramas.
- Any other hobbies? I love to go for long walks with my dogs in the woods. I love cooking, baking and feeding people.
- Where is the best place you have visited? It is not so exotic, but Martha’s Vineyard, when it was a laid back, not so crowded place.
- If you could visit one place this year, where would it be? We are going to Austria and Italy this summer, so I guess that would be the place.
- What’s your favorite workout? Very long trail runs.
- Who’s your inspiration? My father. He died years ago while bike riding, long before I got into this sport. He always tried to get me interested in bike riding, but I wasn’t. I think of him quite often while training and racing and think how happy and proud he would be watching me (& Mike).
- If you could train with one person for a day, who would it be? My father, if he were still alive.
- What three things would you bring with you if you were to be dropped on a deserted Island (not counting family)? Daisy, Simon and Lily-my 3 black labs
- Any other words of wisdom? I have many words of wisdom but I don’t care to share them.
