2008 Polar Plunge - Thank You Poem

To the 2008 Southport Polar Plungers

 

A dream to be a parent a pillar to post
Praying and wishing to fulfill my utmost

The dreams of my prayers were answered with Jake
My promises to God that I would never forsake

I promise to guide down each path my at my best
I promise to love and cherish and leave you the rest

I now have a child to love and care
For I am allowed to teach and to share

A young little boy harmless and free
Playing ball and climbing a up a tree

Innocent not knowing the how the world can be
I hope he’ll listen… listen to me…

As a parent you guide and hope that you’re right
You wonder and ponder each and every night

The fear of bad health you push out of your mind
That would never happen to us… No, not our kind…

We are facing our faith and to it we’re bound
I know when He’s needed He will be around

Around came a friend desiring to lend a hand
That helping hand has created my life stand

I said why poor us and what do we do?
And then you were there, each one of you!

My vision turned around and my family grew one by one
With all my sisters and my brothers – I knew we had won

Each phone call, each e-mail my heart grew so deep
I thought in my bed with such little sleep

How lucky am I to meet a group as yours
You have now opened so many new doors

More benefits are starting and Kawasaki Disease is the cause
I will give them my all and try not to pause

The opportunity is here in front of me now
It time to spread the word and you showed me how

The cameras, the plungers and donations to assist
Why in the world would I ever resist

I shall take my small wealth and share it amongst all
You have opened my ears to hear my mission call

Keep up your good ways 
May God be with you throughout each of the coming days
