Eric writes: Megan Searfoss is a very busy and talented athlete with some terrific goals for this year! She took a moment to answer my 20 questions.

Athlete Of The Month Profile

  1. Name  Megan Searfoss
  2. How long have you been training for and racing in Triathlon? 6 years
  3. Quickly, Snickers or Twizzlers? Red Vines
  4. What do you consider your biggest athletic achievement (doesn’t have to be tri-related)?  Still having my high school record in Discus from 1983.
  5. What are your big goals for 2008?  Top 3 finish in age group at Ironman LP, then Kona. 
  6. What’s your favorite meal? Chocolate, wine and coffee, is that a meal?  OK, McCann’s oatmeal with honey and blueberries.
  7. What’s your favorite snack food? Eating off my kid’s plates
  8. What’s your favorite movie? Pursuit of Happyness
  9. Any other hobbies? cooking , coaching my girl’s soccer teams
  10. Where is the best place you have visited?  Italian Alps
  11. If you could visit one place this year, where would it be?  Kona
  12. What’s your favorite workout? A social run or ride.
  13. Tell us about the craziest workout you have done: Running 10 miles to a race in a Turkey Trot 5 K in LaJolla, Ca then running home. 
  14. Who’s your inspiration? Alex Campanaro, an young athlete who I coached in soccer that has lupus and a new kidney from her Mom. 
  15. If you could train with one person for a day, who would it be? Alex, when she is healthy enough again. 
  16. Any other words of wisdom?  Refuse to Lose
  17. recommend a book for us: Elements of Effort by John Jerome (running wisdom)
  18. Name a song that gets you fired up to race or train:  Race Car Yayas by Cake
  19. What bike are you riding currently?  Any special components?  A Guru Crono with Reynolds/Powertap wheels.
